Hand stitched with appliqué, sequins and beading, with acrylic inks on rescued fabric, dyed with black walnuts, and eco-dyed with leaves.
There is an innocence on the surface but with a closer look, possibly something more macabre and ambiguous going on. Polluted water ways, climate change, toxic chemicals are killing and deforming aquatic life. The lace border is reminiscent of a Victorian aesthetic.
